Royal Visit Recap

A platinum jubilee is a commemoration of an occasion. It generally pertains to a crown’s 70th anniversary. Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth states will be the latest monarch to commemorate a platinum jubilee in February 2022. Due to Queen Elizabeth’s mobility issues, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took on the role of visiting countries on the Platinum Jubilee tour.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge began their Platinum Jubilee tour in Belize on March 19, 2022. The royals were welcomed by the Garifuna Community in the country’s South, where they danced and participated in traditional activities. The Duke and Duchess were originally supposed to visit the Akte ‘il Ha cacao farm in Indian Creek, but the trip was canceled owing to protesters. Demonstrators emphasized the continuing land conflict between homeowners and Flora and Fauna International, a foundation that William supports. This tour was replaced to one similar in which they visited Julio’s cacao farm, Che’il Mayan Chocolate, in southern Belize, where they saw how the world-famous chocolate is created using organic ingredients cultivated on their property. The couple also went diving at South Water Caye, where they could see the Barrier Reef, and visited the renowned Maya Monument in the Chiquibul Forest.

The royals learnt about our country’s biodiversity by touring the jungle and reefs, as well as the Maya and Garifuna customs. The Royals concluded their stay on March 22 of this year and made their next stop of the Platinum Jubilee in Jamacia.
